Rough storyboard idea

For our story board we decided to all create our own interpretation of the music video, and then come together and mesh all of our ideas together so that everyone was included and happy with the final product. 

• My first storyboard idea is the story of a young man, who is visibly upset and distraught about something but the audience is unsure of the cause.

• As the music video begins we begin to discoed that he is heartbroken, by a young woman who seems to have moved on and is unaffected by this heartbreak.

• There will be an obvious contrast between the two characters.

• I wanted to included some strobe-like shots where the two character slowly tun to face each other 

• I also wanted to include a shot of the young man walking down a hallway as the camera follows him and he is stumbling and falling to show his struggle. 

• Through out the video I think it would be visually pleasing to tease what the young woman looks like, so we never see her full face until a certain point in the song. 

Storyboard Idea

My initial storyboard idea is a party narrative set in reverse. This leaves the viewer wondering what the sequence means until it is all tied together in the end and it is revealed how the main character became so upset. I also wanted to leave some of the story up to interpretation with small glimpses into what might have happened.

1. The scene is set with a view of a dishevelled young man lying on a bathroom floor smoking. The camera focuses and blurs with the beat of the song.

2.  A closeup shows cigarette embers glowing while his hand shakes.

3. This is intercut with flashes of a mysterious girl smiling and enjoying herself.

4. There is a lingering shot of two hands almost touching until they pull apart.

5. At the line "I've got you in my scope", there is a zoom in on the eyes of the girl.

6. The man gets up swaying and leaves the bathroom.

7. Walking haphazardly through a dark hallway, the people around him twist and blur as they move.

8.  As the beat drops. multicoloured lights flash and the view becomes distorted.

9. The girl appears to be enjoying herself as the camera focuses on her arms and legs as she dances in slow motion.

10. In contrast, the man looks as if he is about to cry.

11. He is shown falling to the floor.

12. Bystanders point and laugh at the camera from his perspective as his vision shakes and blurs.

13. It is revealed he has tripped and fallen over a bottle.

14. This is shown to be after he bursts through the hallway door in a hurry, pushing other party goers out of the way.

15. The girl he is pining over is shown to be dancing and gazing lovingly at someone else.

16. This scene shows the main character making eye contact with the girl for the first time as he smiles fondly.

Euphoria

The show Euphoria is a big inspiration with colours and camera shots.

Idea

Ciara's idea and rough storyboard  

• focused on person and background is completely blurry
• lots of different shots of the contrast between girl being happy and boy being sad
• background blurred in the shots of the boy to show he doesn't really know whats going on around him
• at the same party but two very different POVs
• when shots go out of focus they go back in focus but of the other person
• bathroom mirror scene
• boy looking sad, miserable and lost
• girl is smiling and happy (absolutely thriving)

Muireann's idea and storyboard 

to create our story we all had great ideas so we all decided to come up with ideas so that we could then combine all of our best elements. We then all drew a very rough sketch so we could explain our vision to each member. We held a team meeting and pitched each of our own visions and took elements of each to make one we were all happy with.

This one is my original idea i pithed to the other members of my team.

• starts out of focus slowly going into focus and zooming out we see a man smoking lying on the bathroom floor
• cutting to party scene wide shot where character is sad in the middle 
• cuts back to bathroom floor fully in focus 
• we now see him in the hall close up 
• shot gets wider and sewed angles as he travels down the hall 
• we see a flash of a women's face over this 
• then cuts to both their faces flashing back and forth 
• goes back to party where we are getting a closer shot of his sad in the crowd in slow motion.
• getting more flashes of this women overlaid on-top dancing. 
• cuts to bathroom where character is looking at himself 
• he starts falling through the mirror 
• he finally hits the floor 
• zooms in on character more flashes of the women 
• we finally gets up and crawls over and grabs a picture 
• its a picture of the two characters
• he then burns this picture

Song

To find a song each one of us started looking at small artists on TikTok.started looking at any that had original songs until we found something we all liked.

We contacted KLM to see if we could use their song love games and we got permission.
