Colour palettes

Here are some scenes I picked from our footage to show the contrasting colour palettes within our video. We wanted to have the different colours be a metaphor for the turbulent emotions on display within our main character, and the calm, blissful demeanour of the girl. The antagonistic colours, blue and red, suggest that they are odds with each other.

They are both in their own worlds at the party- hers is blue, peaceful and joyous, while his is an angry red, filled with self hatred and anxiety. He does not know how to socialise normally in front of this girl, and instead retreats to be alone.

However, when their worlds collide, his red is overtaken by her blue. This is also the case when he thinks about her, shown by the purply blue lighting at some points.

However, in the end, he retreats in solitude once again and leaves the party, the red light beginning to illuminate the hall once again.

Final Edit

After our group meeting with Maria we made note of the small changes she wanted and got to work straight away and finished the edit

-We first made the couch scene less crusty

-Made our flickering between the two characters stronger

-Fixed the black cut that didnt fit around the 1:16 mark

-We added a little bit more of the girl without revelling her entirely at 0:54

- We recorded the exact door that we used at the end and put in a door sound to Finnish it off.

Second Test Edit

I created a second rough edit after our initial feedback in order to get the best video.

After this we all mashed our videos together to get the. result that we wanted.

Final Test Edit

Here is the workspace I used while editing.
I had all the video files sorted by Muireann into scenes in folders on the left so I could sort through them as I cut the video to the music.

I also added different effects on adjustment layers for each scene. I added an emboss filter to most of the footage to add a 3D edge. I wanted to test out multiple effects like the paint bucket to add a stencil sketchy effect, emboss, and an inverted colour effect to add a sickly, disoriented feeling in the hallway scene.

Here is my final test edit. I aimed for a very psychedelic, drunk feel with the effects to represent the main characters mental state but I think I may have went a bit overboard with them.

Combination of sequences

for this video we took into account all of what Maria discussed with us in our meeting and made a combination of our best pieces of each with some new pieces as well
we did this by having the same file structure in our premier files and imported the sequences into one file and it was super easy to combine once we knew what we wanted.

Second cut

after talking to Maria. Chloe Moya and I made a second rough cut based on what Maria said we then used these edits to combine in our final one.
this is my second cut

Edit feedback

We each shared our rough edits and got feedback on our work in order to see the areas we need to improve on, and what ideas were really useful.

We got feedback such as there were moments that were too slow or moments with too many flashes that took away from the video itself.

There was too little moments of the our actress Karla and will ensure to include more of her in the next edit is that our story line is fully understandable.

We will now create our final piece with our ideas that we each like and write our individual report and peer review.

Test Edits

We all decided to create our own version of the music video and then from each of our videos we can get inspiration from each others ideas.

I downloaded the renamed files that Muireann had sent us and began editing while following the storyboard.

MY  TEST EDIT

sending footage to all members

first we decided to share via google drive with all the files renamed the same way but we ran into some technical issues on google drive

we then decided to send a zip file on wetrasnfer instead as it proved much easier
